The Good Companions (Vol. 1) by J.B. Priestley was first published in 1929, not 1930, although some editions (especially reprints) may be dated 1930.

It is a classic English novel that follows the adventures of a group of characters who come together to form a traveling concert party (a type of variety show troupe), called the Dinky Doos, later renamed the Good Companions.
